The first month with Jacoby has been a whirl wind of so many emotions. It's been a delicate process adjusting Johanna to her new role as Big Sister. She definitely has her jealous moments, but overall she absolutely loves her baby brother. All she wants to do is kiss him and share her toys with him. The first week she really enjoyed taking Jacoby's socks off.
The joy in her face when I bring him to her just sends the warmest rush through my body. And in that first week when Jacoby would hear his sister and sense her close by, his face would light up and sometimes even smile.
Jacoby smiled a lot in his early days while sleeping, but on May 30th he actually smiled for me while awake! I said, "Mama loves you!" And that sweet little mouth of his gave me this huge smile. What a wonderful feeling. Jacoby and Johanna have very similar mouths, so it was a familiar smile. Huge, mouth open wide, smile. And an instantly contagious one!
At Coby's one week appointment he was back up to his birth weight. Woohoo.
And by his one month appointment he was a whopping 11 lbs 3 ozs! My little chunky bubs!
In his first month he has met a lot of family and friends so far. He loves to meet new people. He welcomes millions of kisses and hugs!
So far, Jacobes loves bath time, sitting near a window, or being outside. He doesn't seem to have a favorite position to be held. He likes them all.
And, although I'm afraid to jinx it by saying this, so far he is SUCH a good baby! He naps a lot and when he's awake, he's usually very chill. My cool dude!
We haven't really landed on a nick name yet for him... they're all developing. As you can tell, I've called him a few different names so far in this post. When we ask Johanna to say his full name, she just smiles. When we ask her to say Jack, she says, "COCK!" But, when asked to say Coby, she says it clear as day!
Another thing I'm still waiting to learn about my boy is his eye color. Sometimes I think they'll stay light, and some days I'm thinking they're going to turn brown. We shall see!
I wrote this blog and then went back to it to add the pics and the entire post was deleted! So, I had to try to recreate it. I hope I remembered everything I wrote the first time around.
Month 1 has been an explosion of joy for me. I love my family, and we love our little Jacoby Russell so much!

It's a boy!
On the morning of Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017, I started to feel contractions. They started at about 3am. By 5am I was rushing Joe out of the house. They were getting very strong and about 5 minutes apart. We needed to meet my mother at the rest stop to drop Johanna off to her. That made me sad because I didn't want to leave Johanna. Her life was literally about to change and my baby girl who had ALL of my attention was going to have to share me with a brother or sister.
When I was admitted into the hospital, I laid on that hospital bed in tears worrying about leaving my baby girl. I had a wonderful nurse though, and soon my contractions took over and I got my mind ready to meet my new baby. Boy, it hurt!
At my final push, the doctor brought the baby onto my belly and looked at Joe, "Well, what is it?!" And Joe said NOTHING! It felt like minutes were going by. I looked at his numb face and then arched my neck the best I could to see around all the doctor's and nurses' arms and could see my baby's legs... And then I saw... balls! It's a boy!!!
Jacoby Russell, oh how I fell in love immediately and could not wait to show you off to your big sister! As I held you, your father and I just kept on repeating, "A boy! We have a boy!" You reminded me of your sister, but you were also so unique. My son. Mama loves you so!
